Cascina Bertolotto

The Cascina Bertolotto, an old farmhouse which sits in an amphitheatre-like setting of sloping hills, has been lovingly renovated to retain and enhance the charm of its rural character. Guests can enjoy relaxing stays in comfortable en-suite rooms, in an environment where nature trails are easily accessed in and around the property covering 50 hectares, 13 of which are vineyards. Over and above the different varieties of grapes at Bertolotto there are also forty varieties of medicinal and aromatic herbs grown, and essential oils are produced.

Main activities on offer include: harvesting precious grapes and viewing the art of wine-making;

visiting dairies for the production of the renowned cheese from the Acqui Terme region and the Roccaverano Robiola cheese; truffle hunting accompanied by a ‘trifulau’ (truffle hunter), with the help of a trained truffle dog and a special small hoe; shooting parties in nearby hunting preserves.

The Cascina Bertolotto, at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level, bordering the Langhe region, stands among hills where the soil has been patiently cultivated over the many years of generations of farmers from the Traversa family, grandfathers and great-grandfathers of the present owners, thus succeeding in transforming it into rich and fertile vine-growing terrain.

The wine produced on the Bertolotto Estate under the present owners appears on the wine lists of the best restaurants and in the cellars of discerning wine connoisseurs. This success originated with the Traversa family’s commitment to carefully selecting the best grapes, and continues by acknowledging the wealth of their long-standing experience.
